Eyelid reduction ("blepharoplasty") is a delicate operation to remove the excess damaged skin and unsightly bulging fat around the eyes so to create a more radiant and youthful appearance. It can improve the visual field. The operation can be performed for the upper and lower eyelids.

In cases of previous ocular and eyelid reduction referred to Mr Beigi, if there has been some unwanted result or complication, the surgery will be naturally more expensive. In this type of operation, the deep scar tissues will be released, some patient might require internal or external eyelid grafts. As a result, post-operatively, there is a higher chance of the need for resuscitation of the wound, hyperplasia (wound thickening) and adjusting the height of the eyelid. In patients who have lower lid surgery, there is a higher chance of having watery looking eyes. As suggested above, they will require further adjunctive surgery under local anaesthesia at week 1 or week 3.

Ptosis (droopy eyelid surgery)

If during upper eyelid reduction the height of the lid needs to be adjusted, this will require a second operation called upper eyelid lift by means of levator muscle surgery. In these patients there is a 10% chance of the need for adjustment of the height of the eyelid on week 1, week 3 or a few weeks later.

Standard Blepharoplasty

During the operation Mr Beigi will make cuts around the natural lines of your eyelid and remove the excess damaged skin and sculpt the fat pad of the eyelid. Upper eyelid surgery is usually performed under local anaesthesia. However, lower eyelid blepharoplasties and combined upper and lower lid blepharoplasty are performed under general anaesthesia.

Extended Blepharoplasty

During standard eyelid operations, other necessary adjustments might be made such as: internal lifting of the eyebrow, upper part of the cheek and lifting of the corners of the eyelid with or without tightening them. Naturally this operation is more extensive and time consuming.
